Patience A.

My name is Patience A. and I am from Edo State, Nigeria. Back home, I was working as a community nurse in a psychiatric institution. I attended high school and college. When I first came to Canada, I got my security management licence and started working as a security guard. Because of the love I have caring for vulnerable people and people with mental health and physical disabilities, I decided to go to CDI College to pursue my career as a PSW. Upon graduation, I received the Best Community Student award. Since then, I had the opportunity to work with different agencies, hospitals, and facilities. My area of expertise is caring for individuals with mental health disabilities. My goal is to give back to the community. I enjoy helping people, spending time with them, talking to them, and offering them comfort. This gives me joy. Even when I’m not on duty, if I see someone who needs help I always jump to the opportunity to help those in need.

Working is my hobby. I like going to work, reaching out to people, and making sure they are fine. Working with Pinnacle Care is wonderful. Throughout my experience working with different companies, Pinnacle is one of the best I have worked with. Not just because I’m currently with them. Most agencies will just give you your shifts, send you to work, end expect you to deliver. In my company now, they don’t do that. When we are going to work, they are there with you. They will regularly call to see how we are doing and how our clients are doing. They make sure we are happy and comfortable with our clients. My bosses are wonderful. They follow up with us and sometimes surprise us with visits on location to see how we are doing with the client. When there’s a change in a clients’ health status, they show the utmost concern. They truly prioritize the well-being of our clients.

Even during Covid-19, they bought us the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to continue performing our jobs safely, as is their responsibility. But, do you know my bosses took time to find out how many members are in our immediate family and also sent masks and gloves for our families? It is so wonderful that they really care about your family. They don’t just treat you as a worker; they see you as a part of the team. They always make sure we are happy with our assigned clients, hours worked, and compensation. Anything they are doing, you feel like they carry you along and this gives us a sense of belonging.
